James Reynolds, DDS
A Southwest Virginia native, Dr. James Reynolds is a 1977 graduate of Cave Spring High School. He graduated with honors from the University of Richmond in 1981, and received his Dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1988. He has practiced in Roanoke since graduation and opened his solo practice in 2000. While providing comprehensive dental care for his patients Dr Reynolds has had a special interest in esthetics and improving the appearance of his patients’ smiles.
Dr. Reynolds is a member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, and the Piedmont Dental Society. Dr. Reynolds is also a former Program Chairman and Past President of the Roanoke Valley Dental Society. In order to stay abreast of the newest developments in Dentistry Dr. Reynolds attends many educational seminars and continuing educational courses each year.
As a means of giving back to the Dental Profession Dr. Reynolds is an adjunct clinical instructor with the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and serves in an instructional capacity with Dental students at the Bradley Free Dental Clinic in Roanoke.
In his free time you will find Dr. Reynolds somewhere near the water as he is an avid sailor and enjoys scuba diving. Dr. Reynolds also is a competitive swimmer and races in the pool throughout the year.
Rachel Stauffer - Registered Dental Hygienist
Rachel is a Pennsylvania native and graduated from Palmerton High School in 1993. She studied Dental Hygiene at Northampton Community College and graduated and received her license in 1997. In 2011 Rachel acquired special training at Northampton Community College receiving her Local Anesthesia Certificate enabling her to administer local anesthetics. In addition to her light touch and pleasant personality Rachel is well trained in treating periodontal disease and helping to motivate patients with their home care routines.
Rachel is new to the area and has been working with Dr. Reynolds since 2016. When not in the office she spends time with family on numerous camping adventures.
Shana Bernard - Registered Dental Hygienist
Shana is a Roanoke native and graduated from William Byrd High School in 2005. She received her Bachelor's Degree majoring in Biology from Virginia Tech in 2009. Shana studied Dental Hygiene at Virginia Western Community College and completed her degree and licensure in 2011. In addition to having a light touch and excellent skills Shana has a pleasant demeanor helping make our hygiene appointments pleasant and effortless.
When not in the office Shana spends time with family activities and chasing her two little girls.
Rebecca - Business Assistant
Rebecca is a Roanoke native and graduate of Patrick Henry High School. She has been working in the Dental field since 1995 and with Dr. Reynolds since 2016. Rebecca is the pleasant voice you will hear on the phone, and the smiling face you will see at our reception and front desk area. She is very good at simplifying the complexities of the various dental insurance plans, and works directly with patients scheduling their necessary appointments.. An expert in her kitchen Rebecca shares her culinary expertise with us weekly.

Candy - Chairside Assistant
Candy is a Michigan native but grew up in Northern Virginia. She graduated from West Springfield High School in 1971. Candy attended Radford University majoring in Recreation and Home Economics Education. She also attended Virginia Western Community College completing the Dental Assisting Program in 1981. Candy works chairside with Dr. Reynolds and her knowledge and training help the procedures go smoothly and efficiently.
Candy has been working with Dr. Reynolds on and off since 1993 and is a familiar face to most all of our patients. Officially she has retired from Dental Assisting; however, she has been kind enough to return to the office to help out from time to time. Away from the office Candy is always on the move with weekly exercise classes and travel with her husband.
